Silletts Funeral Service
Bury, Manchester

Workshop Design Studio was commissioned by Silletts Funeral Service to sensitively reimagine and upgrade their existing premises, introducing a renewed sense of arrival via a newly landscaped customer car park. The scheme provides a calm and welcoming reception space with fully accessible facilities, leading to five new vaulted-roof Chapels of Rest. These chapels are accessed through a cloister-inspired corridor, carefully positioned to overlook a tranquil garden setting.

The original building, dating back to the 1950s and later extended in the 1970s with limited architectural cohesion, has been transformed through a considered approach that harmonises old and new. Drawing inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, the design brings together existing and contemporary elements into a unified architectural language, refined for the modern era.

The redevelopment also includes enhanced staff welfare spaces at first floor level, as well as expanded garaging, storage, and workshop facilities to support the operational needs of the service.

Landscape scheme provided in collaboration with Pike Studio.
